Liked but didn’t love them, but always preferred Mick to Joe in the Clash. He brought the music to Joe’s sometimes problematic polemics, which always elevated the songs.
Saw BAD on that fantastic night at Manchester GMex when they played the Greenpeace gig with U2, Kraftwerk and Public Enemy, and, not surprisingly, they were a little underwhelming among that lot! But I certainly appreciated them a lot more after seeing them play live.
It was unbelievable, Penny…and, of course, a great night out! U2 were just about ready to out on their mammoth Zooropa tour, so they had the Trabants and the giant TV screens, and Bono had his Fly glasses…pretty incredible! Kraftwerk were great, too, if a little inanimate, and Public Enemy were simply stunning, almost stealing the show from U2. I was very lucky to have been there that night!
“On record BAD never achieves what they ought to…”. Perfect, prescient summary.

Wow, that's some bill.

1st, 2nd & 4th are wonderful records, 3rd set them back and they never recovered commercially, Mick Jones severely under appreciated
The band that I most regret never seeing! First two albums are classics front to back.
